Berglind Óttarsdóttir

Berglind ÓttarsdóttirHello, my name is Berglind Óttarsdóttir, 18 years old student in the upper secondary school in Höfn called FAS (Framhaldsskólinn í Austur-Skaftafellsýslu). Mainly focusing on languages and arts.

I live in a small town in the south east of Iceland called Höfn with my parents, a dog and 2 out of 3 of my siblings. I have two brothers who I currently live with, Aron (22) and Bjartur (14), and one sister called Íris (23). She lives with her fiancé and nearly 2-year-old daughter in Höfn.  My mother ‘s name is Erna and she works at the local supermarket while my father, Óttar, works as a mechanic.

This summer I worked three jobs. One was in Pizza delivery, another one was at a laundromat and lastly I worked in an accounting firm in our town.

I have major passion for photography, reading, music and languages. Those things have gotten me through the most difficult of times, when I strongly believed I couldn’t make it through.

My favourite bands are Black Veil Brides, New Year’s Day, Aerosmith, Pink Floyd and many many others, along with many singers from different cultures such as Helly Luv, which is a Kurdistan humanitarian, Yara, an Arabic singer and songwriter, Sergej Ćetković and Relja Popović. I can listen to anything that has a strong empowering beat to it, as long as it isn’t techno or dubstep.

I play flute, and have been doing that for 10 years now. When I was 8 years old my biggest dream was to become a known photographer, and now in the past year my dream is beginning to come true. People from all over town message me and book me for photoshoots for anything they like, weddings, graduations, etc. Currently I am focusing on learning Kurdish and Hindi to the point of I’m fluent.

I like fantasy books and films. Books like Lord of the rings, The mortal instruments, The Silmarillion and multiple other various books. My favourite authors of all time are J.K. Rowling, J.R.R. Tolkien and Cassandra Clare.

I really enjoy learning about different cultures, that’s why I’m very happy about being a part of this project, I can’t wait to meet everyone and to widen my horizon a little bit.
