I like my students and enjoy my work a lot. I have been leading international programms and students exchange at the school for many years.
I have many hobbies; art, good films, music and hiking. In winter I often go skiing. I like very much to travel and visit new places and getting to know new culture. I also like animals.
My name is Hjördís Skírnisdóttir and I’ve been teaching since 1992, first in primary schools, both in the capital area and here in the town of Höfn. Since 1997 I have been teaching at the secondary school of Framhaldsskólinn í Austur-Skaftafellssýslu (FAS) and my main subjects are German and Geology. Since 2003 I have been taking care of foreign relations at the school and have worked on several programs on behalf of FAS.
I was born in Höfn and lived the first 16 years on a farmhouse, 7 kilometers away from the town. After primary school I needed to go to college in Reykjavík. After graduation I went to the Iceland University of Education and later I studied German and Geology at the University of Iceland. When I lived in Reykjavík I also went to the Iceland Tourist Guide School and for many years I have worked as a tourist guide during school’s summer vacation. I mostly guide in the vicinity of Höfn and in East Iceland. Many of the best known places in the country are in our county, e.g. Skaftafell National Park, the ice lake Jökulsárlón and the glacier outlets Skálafellsjökull and Hoffellsjökull.
I love to spend time with my family (a husband and a sixteen-year old daughter). We often go hiking and we travel a lot both in Iceland and abroad.
This is the second time that FAS is working with a Polish school. In the school year 2009/2010 FAS worked with Szkół Nr 2 im. Eugeniusza Kwiatkowskiego, in Dębica in a project called ICEPO – young people promoting understanding between the nations. We are really looking forward to work with a Polish school again.
My name is Kristján Ebenezarson and I am the PE teacher in Framhaldsskólinn í Austur-Skaftafellssýslu (FAS). I have only been teaching for one year but I have been coaching basketball for few years now in Höfn.
I was born in Vestmannaeyjar, which is a small volcanic island on the south coast of Iceland. I have two siblings one older brother and one younger sister. When I finished primary school in my hometown I went to the capital and studied sports in collages. I decided to take a brake from school before going to university. In the brake I went to Denmark and attended folk high school at Gerlev that focused on sports. After my brake I went to the university of Iceland and studied sports science, my dream was to become a sport psychologist and therefore I studied for two years in Lund, Sweden.
My main hobbies are all kind of sports, but I participate in basketball, volleyball and during the summer I play golf.
I am an English teacher in High School no.VII in Wrocław. I have been teaching English for over twenty years now and it is still my big passion. I am enthusiastic and love motivating people to do their best. I believe everybody is special and has unique talents.
I love working with young people. Their inquisitive minds and inner wisdom inspire me to be a better human being.
I like travelling, exploring new cultures and talking to people. I am optimistic and fun-loving.
I am very happy about working on the project on health and well-being with FAS (Our Icelandic partner school). I hope we will together achieve great results which will improve teacher-student relationships and contribute to our self-development.
